The Lockdown Libraries - A New Tale from the House that Sat Down, with Alice May

Another true tale accompanied by Alice’s signature artwork. This talk covers what happened when Alice took a job as a part-time school librarian to support her dream of becoming a full-time writer. With no previous experience of working in schools, she had a lot to learn. Just as she was finding her feet, lockdown hit and a new adventure began. Conquering the World's Toughest Row: An Atlantic Odyssey - Julie Eddicott

Julie Eddicott is skipper of Ebb and Flow Atlantic rowing team - a team of 4 who are preparing to compete in the ‘World’s Toughest Row’ in December. This is an endurance race like no other, rowing 3000 miles from the Canaries to Antigua in an ocean rowing boat. Travelling at an average of 2.5 knots (walking pace) and rowing 2 hrs on / 2 hrs off shifts for 45-50 days, it’s as much of a social experiment as a physical one, as mental agility will play a huge part in this challenge. Julie will be chatting to us about the row and the preparations taking place as they move towards the start of the race on 12th December.
