Welcome to our first event in 2025!

New Year New You, have you ever considered increasing your steps? Taking up serious walking?  This can also be a gentle stroll.

WALX Dorset are the local branch of a UK wide club that offer everything from sociable walks, nature and mindfulness walks to their signature exercise and wellness sessions known as Total Body Walking.

These are suitable for all levels from wellness and rehab to full on circuits and the aim is simply to Turn Walking into a Workout! They teach the latest way to walk with poles for a natural effective way to engage the whole body with every step and they work on elements such as balance, strength and functional movement – all in the great outdoors The qualified Instructors and leaders organise over 20 sessions and walks a week in Dorset.

You will meet our local instructors who are based in the Purbecks.

WALX Dorset have an office in Swanage, with immediate plans to open a branch in Wareham. 

They will bring along a few poles for you to try out and anyone from this evening’s event will be offered their first session for free.

GENEOLOGY

‘’So, who do you think you are’’ Learn how to research your own or anyone else’s family without having to spend any money.  Hear from Mike Randall a local chap and volunteer at Shire Hall, Courthouse Museum, Dorchester. Mike who has been working with Genealogy for 40 years will share fascinating facts and things to uncover, skeletons in the cupboards and build a family you didn’t even know about.

Mike will share with us a few of his true successes that have helped people in researching their past.

Mike collects for the Shire Hall Courthouse museum in Dorchester where he works as a volunteer tour guide and speaker in the historic courtroom which is the base of much of his research for his talks. They have no funding and a fully fledged charity, please can you bring any spare change for his collection where you can. Thank you.

Owner Liz will join us and share her story and success on making ethical handmade skincare.  Liz owns a very successful shop in Lytchett Minster and online store creating and selling handmade, cruelty free and kind to sensitive skin products from hair, body and make up.

Join us for a lovely fun evening at the beautiful La Mia's Poole Quay.  A wonderful restaurant and cocktail bar situated on the quay front. Hennings Wharf, Quayside, Poole, BH15 1GZ.  

Have fun crafting cocktails with La Mia’s mixologist Marcus and Lorna.  This is such a great way to spend time with other ladies and master mixologist techniques at such a fabulous venue.

Experienced mixologist Marcus and Lorna  will help us create three cocktails, Pina Colada, Pornstar Martini and your very own creation to taste and enjoy, we will hear a little history about how cocktails were first made and where.  Mocktails can also be created.

The winning cocktail will be featured as La Mia's very own special 'Cocktail of the month' there will also be a competition on the night for ''Cocktail maker of the night''
