"SOLD OUT" LAUNCH EVENT – LIZZIE BAKING BIRD 

Welcome to the first Live Love Laugh Ladies Club Event at our new venue “Crossroads.”   

Our guest speaker is Lizzie Crow whose business is called “Lizzie Baking Bird.”  Lizzie is not professionally trained as a baker but shares her love of cooking (especially baking) of many years from her mum. Having worked for the NHS, Lizzie would return home feeling stressed and so would cook her frustrations away. So, when the time came that she needed to leave her job Lizzie found that she had to cook more to the extreme that her chap begged her to go out and sell what she had baked – To then a Baker was born.  

Lizzie uses Dorset produce and can be seen selling her delicious breads, cakes and pastries at local farmers markets, food festivals and from home.  She has won many Food Awards, including a Gold Star from the Guild of Fine Food for her Christmas Puddings in November 2024, Lizzie will share her stories of her baking journey from a knee to a grasshopper to the present time.

LUCY TIDBURY – LUCY'S FARM 

We welcome to our February Live Laugh Love Ladies Club, Lucy Tidbury of Lucy’s Farm. 

Lucy is a Dorset-based Artist who loves painting all animals and is known for her Moo Selfies. She also paints commissions to order. Her shop in Swanage sells original paintings, prints, kitchenware, homeware, greeting cards, notebooks, and a variety of gifts.  

Lucy is a regular visitor to Poundbury events and exhibits at numerous county shows and events around the country along with her converted Shepherd Hut Showroom, Land Rover, and her beautiful dog Ned. 

Lucy will speak about her love of painting and will bring along a variety of items to show off her beautiful creations.

Mike Randall – Transported for the Rest of their Natural Lives 

We welcome Mike Randall, a former Headteacher and a Volunteer at The Shire Hall, Dorchester who will give us a talk about the Dorset prisoners that were transported to Australia, and we will hear what happened to the families that were left behind.  We will learn about the sufferings of the unfortunate and melancholy souls that were convicted at the Dorchester assizes in the late 18C and 19BC.  Mike has researched every prisoner that has been transported from Dorset. and is particularly keen to find out about the families that suffered hardship and suffering of losing the primary breadwinner to the family,

Lyndon Wall – Artist and Caricaturist 

Lyndon Wall is a Dorset-based author, artist and caricaturist specialising in political and local interest cartoons. He is the cover cartoonist for the West Dorset Magazine, and draws for Dorset View and Viewpoint magazines, and for The Dorset Year Book. He has also drawn for Dorset Life and the New Blackmore Vale and New Stour & Avon magazines. 

In 2022 he was nominated for and won the Tenniel Cup in the national Political Cartoon of the Year Awards, competing against the likes of The Times and The Guardian. 

Commissions have included book covers and caricatures of MPs, including the Speaker of the House of Commons. 

His book Upsydown: Cartoons of Dorset Life was published by Amberley last year.
